Entegrus Powerlines Inc. is seeking two Apprentice Power Line Maintainers for a 16-week work placement term. This is a temporary apprenticeship position providing practical experience with respect to the skills and development provided in the practical and theory training at the college level. Positions will be based at our Chatham Operations Centre and St. Thomas Operations Centre.

As an Apprentice Power Line Maintainer, your primary activity will focus on assisting with construction and maintenance on the overhead and underground distribution system up to and including 27.6 kV. All work performed will be in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and Regulations, the IHSA rulebook and Entegrus Powerlines Policies and Procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma
  • Completion of Power Line Maintainer course at an accredited Ontario College, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0
  • Registered with the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship as a Powerline Technician Apprentice
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License Class DZ
  • Experience in the safe operation of utility equipment/vehicles
  • Must possess the necessary pole climbing gear and associated hand tools that meet current regulations
  • Must have current First Aid training
  • All additional trade certifications will be considered an asset

SKILLS:

  • Proven ability to work effectively and safely with a high regard for personal and public safety in a team setting
  • Be in excellent physical condition able to perform all duties related to this role including working both aloft and within confined spaces in a year-round outdoor environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel, are an asset

The successful applicant will be a self-motivated individual with the desire to provide exceptional service. In addition, the successful applicant will have excellent interpersonal skills and the demonstrated ability to work as a team player.

This position is a temporary sixteen-week work placement from May to August and is based on 40 hours per week from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Monday-Friday. This position has an hourly wage of $22.00 per hour, plus vacation pay and statutory benefits in accordance with Employment Standards Act.
