SCADA Interconnection Requirements

All generation projects will be subject to the technical requirements published in Hydro One’s Technical Interconnection Requirements. The details for your specific project will be provided in the CIA report (if required) and/or the connection agreement.

A summary of what can be expected is included below to help you understand what might be included in the connection requirements.

The cost for installation of these requirements will be included in the connection agreement. The customer will assume any ongoing communications costs (i.e. data charges for a cellular modem).

All Generators

  • Specialized Bi-Directional metering

Additional Requirements: Generators > 250 kW

  • Realtime connection to allow utility monitoring of generation system status such as (Connection Status, Generator Run State, for both the facility and the generator: Real-Time KW, KVA, KVAR, Voltage, and Currents)

Additional Requirements: Generators ≥ 1 MW

  • Realtime connection to allow utility monitoring of generation system status such as (Connection Status, Generator Run State, for both the facility and the generator: Real-Time KW, KVA, KVAR, Voltage, and Currents).
