We would like to update the community on the outage that occurred in Blenheim on Friday, January 17, which affected approximately 2,104 customers from 10:11 PM to 5:20 AM.
The outage was caused by a motor vehicle accident that damaged a Hydro One pole, disrupting Entegrus’s power supply to the town.
Hydro One supplies power to Entegrus for the Town of Blenheim. There are two Hydro One feeds to the town which allows Entegrus to reroute power via smart switches when necessary. From time to time, Hydro One must temporarily divert one of the feeds for necessary work, leaving only one active feed to the town, which is the current state.
The motor vehicle accident occurred on the active supply feed causing the town wide outage that could not be restored until repairs from the accident were made.
We continue to work with Hydro One to minimize the time that secondary feeds are diverted, as well as to improve communication during outages so updates are more readily available. We apologize for the inconvenience.
