RIDGETOWN: Request for Voluntary Power Reduction

Date

Entegrus is actively working to address an equipment failure that may affect the power supply to approximately 800 residential customers in Ridgetown. We are asking residents to conserve their electricity usage to help maintain system stability.

Background

One of the stations supplying Ridgetown was severely damaged by an animal contact and taken out of service.

Entegrus installed a Mobile Unit Substation “MUS” to support the Ridgetown load while a replacement part was being fabricated for the damaged station.  Complete repair of the Ridgetown station is scheduled for this week.

Yesterday’s outage was due to equipment failure related to the backup MUS.  While Entegrus is working to restore the Ridgetown substation we are asking for the community’s support to avoid further potential outages.

How You Can Help

To help maintain system stability and reduce the risk of further outages, we are asking all customers in Ridgetown to voluntarily reduce electricity usage during peak hours today.

Primary time of concern:

  • 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM Sunday, July 6th is most critical.
  • Entegrus will continue to monitor temperatures until repairs are fully complete.

Ways to reduce electricity use:

  • Pools, hot tubs, spas: Avoid operating during this time.
  • Electric vehicles: Delay charging until after 11:00 PM.
  • Air conditioning: If medically safe, set thermostats 1–2°C warmer.
  • Clothes drying: Use a clothesline or delay using your dryer.
  • Cooking: Choose a microwave, air fryer, or BBQ instead of an electric stove or oven.
  • Electronics and lighting: Turn off lights, TVs, and devices in unoccupied rooms.

What you don’t need to worry about:

  • Charging phones, tablets, laptops: These use minimal power.
  • Fans: Fans can help keep you comfortable and consume very little electricity.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation.
